Mike Mangini

Mike Mangini is the current drummer for progressive metal band, Dream Theater. He has also played drums with Annihilator, Extreme, and Steve Vai, among others. Mike is also known for his work as a session musician and from 2002 to 2005 set five World's Fastest Drummer (WFD) records. He has served as an associate professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and has written two books about his drumming techniques entitled Rhythm Knowledge. Mike also appeared on the Discovery Channel show Time Warp, where he displayed his drum skills for high speed camera analysis. In 2010, Dream Theater announced Mike as their new drummer. He has since recorded A Dramatic Turn of Events with the group.
