Samson SoftPre

The Samson Q1U, C01U & C03U are designed to be fully functional without installing the SoftPre applet software using the standard drivers included in your computer's operating system. However if you would like added functionality of the Samson SoftPre applet (Input Level Meter, Volume control, High-pass filter and Phase Switch), you may download the appropriate one for your operating system below.

The following software is designed for use with Samson Q1U, C01U & C03U USB microphones.

Mac OS X

• SoftPre for OS X, Version 1.1.3 (Universal Binary) - 2.8MB - May 14th, 2007
• SoftPre UnInstaller for OS X, Version 0.5 (Universal Binary) - 20KB - April 30th, 2007

If you plan on plugging more than one Samson USB microphone at the same time, DO NOT install the Samson SoftPre on OS X.

Note: Samson SoftPre is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard however the C01U, C03U and Q1U are all Plug-and-Play compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

Windows XP

• SoftPre for Windows XP, Version 1.1.0 - 1.5MB - May 14th, 2007

If you are using more than one Samson USB microphone or combination with any other manufacturers USB microphones, DO NOT install the Samson Softpre on Windows XP.

Note: Samson SoftPre is not compatible with Windows Vista however the C01U, C03U and Q1U are all Plug-and-Play compatible with Windows Vista.

Windows Installation Instructions

1. Uninstall any previous versions of the Samson SoftPre software
2. Plug the USB microphone into the computer (microphone should berecognized by the computer)
3. Install Samson SoftPre 1.1.0
4. Click Continue Anyway on the Windows Logo Testing Verification Dialog Box
5. Check "Install the Software Automatically" in the Found New Hardware Wizard and press Next
6. Click Continue Anyway on the Windows Logo Testing Verification Dialog Box

If you want to use a different Samson USB microphone after you have installed SoftPre for Windows, you will need to follow the above steps again (uninstall the SoftPre, plug in the new USB mic ... etc.)

Windows Applet Note: The Windows SoftPre applet supports WDM and is designed to work with Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Without the SoftPre applet, Windows should recognize the mic and use the Windows mixer as a volume control if needed.
